Zoning Systems    Thermostat Controls

Are You Tired of Being Too Hot in Some Rooms and Too Cold In Others?

Did you know?

  • Your home may be like most homes (Without HVAC zoning system installed)
  • Zoned Plumbing System (Every faucet and plumbing fixture is independently controlled)
  • Zoned Electrical System (Every light fixture and circuit is independently controlled)
  • Zoned Entertainment System (Every TV can play different channel)
  • Un-zoned primitive comfort system (If every room in your home is not independently controlled by its own thermostat)

What you want

  • The temperature you want.
  • Where you want it.
  • When you want it.
  • And to save you money.

Have You Ever?

  • Shut off vents in rooms you are not using?
  • Noticed big temperature differences between the floors on the hot and cold days?
  • Shut off vents in some rooms to force more air to other rooms?
  • Desired more cooling in a room with a large window area while all other rooms were cooling comfortably?
  • Found yourself constantly adjusting the thermostat or using space heaters in some areas?
  • Found that the no matter what you do, some parts of your home are not comfortable?

What Is Zoning?

Zoning is a method of comforting and ventilating your home by having multiple zones, utilizing multiple thermostats, and motorized dampers connected to a single central forced air duct system. Allowing you to set different temperatures, in different zones of your home at the same time! Just like your plumbing, each plumbing fixture is 100% independently controlled from all other plumbing fixtures in the house. It would not be convenient to open one faucet and all of the faucets too come on at the same time, that is how non-zoned comfort systems work; one single thermostat (comfort switch) controls all of the rooms and all of the vents in the entire house. This is not smart.

How Does Zoning work?

Zoning is simply a way too separate your home into zones with similar comfort requirements. Every home should have at least two zones; the living area and sleeping area, which are seldom used at the same time. Most homes are typically divided between upstairs and downstairs, master and kids bedrooms, formal living room, dining room, family room and kitchen. Each zone is often occupied at different times of the day and has different comfort needs.

Zoning is achieved by using automatic dampers in the ducts in each zone. Each zone is controlled by a thermostat that controls its damper, or group of dampers, and the heating/cooling system provides conditioned air only to those applicable zones based on the control settings. The dampers to the zones that are satisfied will close, saving you energy and money! Programmable thermostats allow you to program each thermostat to reach different temperatures during different times of the day, this truly provides custom comfort!

Benefits of Zoning Your Home!

It's simply not possible for one single comfort control (thermostat) to offer an ideal comfort in every room. What is comfortable for the bedroom may not be comfortable for the dining room.

Zoning system in your home offers the easy, affordable, economical solution. Zoning divides the home into zones with similar comfort and temperature requirements with each zone being controlled by its own comfort control (thermostat). The result is total indoor comfort, no matter where you are inside your home, heating or cooling only the rooms that are needed, and using less energy!

Real Energy Savings You Can Bank On!

By heating or cooling only the parts of your home that you'll be using, you will conserve energy! Consider the alternative in most homes; one comfort switch (thermostat) controls the temperature of the entire home. Rooms not in use are needlessly being heated or cooled, using energy and costing you money. An old wise tale says to leave your thermostat set and maintain a constant temperature continually, this is not true. It costs much less to heat a cold home when the thermostat has been turned off than to leave the temperature set at the same temperature around the clock. This also goes for cooling. Always shut off the heating/cooling in the areas you are not using to maximize energy savings! This is only applicable when your house is zoned. Your heating and cooling system will only be working for parts of your home when and where it is needed!

The energy savings with Zoning can exceed 30% when properly operated. This kind of savings can add up and exceed any savings derived from upgrading only to higher efficient equipment. However, to realize energy savings in excess of 40% it is suggested that you install programmable thermostats in each zone and upgrade to high efficient equipment.

-----Most modern homes have efficient heating and cooling systems that keep the occupants relatively comfortable in spite of the outside temperature. But many of those homes are missing a very important part of a complete system – zoning.

The idea of zoning the heating and cooling systems of a home doesn’t have to be complicated.

  • Zoning is a way to separate the home into areas in which the conditions can be separately controlled.
  • A home should have a living-area zone and a sleeping-area zone.
  • Some homes may need to have control of such areas as a main floor and second floor, and even smaller zones within those.

If you regularly shut off some heating or cooling vents because you don’t use that area or want to provide extra cooling in a single room for special occasions, zoning might be the answer.  Further, if you have an area in your home (maybe the second floor) that never reaches a desirable temperature, zoning may be what you need.  You can be comfortable and save a lot on your energy costs with a zoning system in your home. -----

Thermostat Controls

Programming your comfort around your lifestyle schedule is easy to do With our programmable thermostats, you start by simply programming your weekday requirements- when you wake, when you leave the house, the time you return home, the time you go to sleep, and the temperature you want at each of those times. Of course your schedule will differ on weekends. Most of our electronic thermostats take this into consideration, and will let you program accordingly. However, even after you've set your thermostats, you still have flexibility. You can temporarily change a program if your schedule suddenly changes, and you can update the program as needed. Our electronic digital thermostats can also be operated manually without canceling the regular program. Ease of use, flexibility, energy savings, and an attractive design.
